MAHOTTARI:  Police on Thursday have arrested a person on charge of providing date-expired medicines to a tuberculosis patient in Tripur VDC, Mahottari.

Dr Ram Kishor Sah (55), In-charge of Tripur Health Post, a permanent resident of Sarpallo VDC-2, has been arrested, said SP Janak Bhattarai.

The accused had treated Sarbesh Jha (6), son of Santosh Jha of Tripura-9 and had provided the medicine, which was found to be expired, on May 19.

The child's father had checked the medicine’s expiry date after his son showed no improvement and had filed a complaint with police on Thursday.

Responding to his complaint, police had investigated into the case and confirmed that the medicine he was provided with had expired months ago.

Meanwhile, police raided the health post after the discovery and seized 253 tablets of expired drugs.
