Mahottari VDC secretary held red-handed with bribe
JANKAPUR: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse and Authority has nabbed the Secretary of Bathnaha VDC, Mahottari district red-handed while taking bribe in the district on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by SP Raj Kumar Lamsal arrested Gulab Chaudhary red-handed while taking Rs 10,000 bribe from his service seekers at Durga Chaur of Jaleshwor-5.
In the fiscal year 2015/16, Chaudhary had allocated Rs 100,000 as allowance from the Village Council for an observation visit of a group of women in Bathnaha. Later, while clearing the arrears after the end of visit, he had asked Rs 20,000 bribe from them, the CIAA claimed.
Both the parties bargained for the amount, but later agreed on Rs. 10,000 after Chaudhary denied settling the arrears if not provided it the money, blamed the victims.
According to the sources, the victims had tipped-off the anti-corruption constitutional body's Bardibas office about the issue and the CIAA officials had made a plan to nab him red-handed.
Necessary action has been taken and the investigation is underway, informed Lamsal.
