Major rural roads in Sindhuli obstructed

Sindhulimadhi, August 18

Most of the rural roads, which connect the villages with the district headquarters Sindhulimadhi, have been badly damaged due to the incessant rainfall.

Vehicular movement on the roads, that connect Marin, Hariharpur Gadhi, Dhayanglekh, and Tinpatan rural municipalities with the district headquarters, have been obstructed for the last few days after the flood in Chandaha River swept away a rural road in Tinpatan Rural Municipality.

Chairman Jagat Bahadur Bhol of Dhayanglekh Rural Municipality said the road which connected the rural municipality with the BP Highway was also obstructed. Different roads in Marin Rural Municipality have also been damaged.

Similarly, in Hariharpur Gadhi Rural Municipality, transportation service was halted after the major road of the rural municipality was damaged by heavy rainfall. Executive officer of the rural municipality Amisha Basnet said communication service also became dysfunctional following the same. She said a temporary office was set up in the district headquarters and had been providing service to the public. “It is very difficult to provide the service to the people due to lack of transportation and communication facilities in the rural areas,” she added.

Likewise, transportation service in Dudhauli Municipality has also been disrupted. Mayor Ghanashyam Raut said people had to suffer a lot for want of bridges over Kamala and Tawa Khola rivers. He held the contractors responsible failing to complete bridge construction work on time.
