Makawanpur activist nabbed on rape charge
HETAUNDA: Makawanpur police on Sunday said they arrested a man for allegedly raping a differently-abled woman repeatedly.
The District Police Office, Makawanpur, identified him as Ganesh Chandra Dawadi, a right activist working for people with disability.
According to police, he raped the 25-year-old woman at least twice – on February 29 and March 10 - after threatening her.
However, he was arrested on Friday only, five days after an FIR was registered against him.
The suspect is the Makawanpur district chairman and central regional coordinator of an NGO named, Apanga Sarokar Kendra.
Meanwhile, the organisation suspended him after the case was revealed.
The Kendra's secretary Jamuna Titung said that a central meeting of the organisation suspended him.
Dawadi is also a central member of the NGO Federation Nepal and the National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal.
