RATNANAGAR, CHITWAN: A person died after being swept away by river while crossing it at Padampokhari in Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan today.

Karna Bahadur Kunwar alias Santosh (50), was crossing the Kerunga rivulet when he was swept away, said police.

His head got stuck in a hume pipe which led to his death, said the Chitwan District Police Office.

Kunwar, a permanent resident of Thori in Parsa, had been working at the house of Narayan Poudel at Bharatpur-22.

The body has been taken to the Bharatpur Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
