Man held with gold worth Rs 28.85 mln from Rasuwa

KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday afternoon arrested a man in possession of six kilograms of undeclared gold from Rasuwagadhi, a Nepal-Tibet border point in Rasuwa district.

The seized yellow metal is worth Rs 28.85 million in the current market.

The arrestee has been identified as Kangtang Tenzing Lama from Timure-5 of the district.

Lama was found in possession of the six gold bars weighing one kg each, hidden inside a belt, at around 3 pm yesterday, said DSP Awadesh Bista of Rasuwa District Police Office.

It has been learned that he was smuggling the precious metal from Kyirong of China.

Lama has been sent to the Department of Revenue Investigation.
