BHIMDUTTANAGAR: A former army staffer was killed when a motorcycle hit him on a road along the East-West Highway in Kanchanpur district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Pratap Singh Mahara of Kaluwapur in Jhalaripipladi Municipality-11 of the district, informed the Jhalari Area Police Office.

Mahara was on his way home from Jhalari Bazaar when the motorcycle, travelling from the opposite direction, hit him. Injured Mahara was then rushed to Kohalpur Medical College for treatment, where he breathed his last.

Police have not made the suspect and the registration number of the bike public.

A team of the District Police Office has been dispatched to investigate into the incident.
