POKHARA: A man has reportedly slit his own throat after attacking his wife and son in Pokhara-Lekhnath Metropolitan City-15 in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Ramji Ghale (39) of Makawanpur district, currently residing in Pokhara, allegedly slit his own throat with a kitchen knife after using the weapon to do the same to his wife and son at 2:00 am today morning at their residence in Kalika Marga of Rambazaar in the metropolis, shows the preliminary investigation of police.

Gyapan Ghale, the 10-year-old son of Ramji Ghale died on the spot, said Police Inspector at Rambazaar-based Ward Police Office, Deepak KC. A team of police reached the incident site after locals informed them about the incident around 2:30 in the morning.

Ghale's wife Sumitra (32) is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara, whereas Ghale is being treated at Manipal Teaching Hospital, also in Pokhara. Ghale is a painter by profession and works in the metropolis.

The body of the deceased has been kept at Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara for post mortem. According to Police Inspector KC, so far, there has been no indication that an outsider could have been involved in the case.

Inspector KC further elaborated, family members residing in the house included Ghale, Sumitra, their son Gyapan, and Sumitra's mother Dhana Maya Thakuri. There had reportedly been arguments in the house around the time of the incident, after which Sumitra and her mother had gone to the neighbours for help. Dhana Maya has indicated that the attacks were carried out by Ghale himself.

"When we reached the incident site, the boy was already dead, Sumitra had been rushed to the hospital by neighbours, and Ghale was bleeding from the throat, who was also immediately taken to hospital. Looking at the nature of the case, it would appear that Ghale slit his own throat after carrying out a similar attack on his spouse and son," Police Inspector KC informed.

It has also been learnt that Sumitra was pregnant with another child. Meanwhile, police is carrying out further investigations into the incident.
