Man swindled of Rs 9 lakh with foreign job offer
KATHMANDU: Police on Friday said they arrested a man for swindling a foreign job aspirant of Rs 900,000, from Jhapa of eastern Nepal.
Police said Shuk Bahadur Limbu of Shantinagar-1, Jhapa, swindled Dip Lal Mahato, currently residing in Koteshor, KMC-35.
The victim had filed a complaint at the Metropolitan Police Crime Division about the fraud.
Mahato said Limbu used a fake Facebook account under the name of Dawa Gyalpo Sherpa from Russia. Limbu had urged Mahato to go to Russia stating there were better employment opportunities.
Mahato was convinced and he sent a total of Rs 900,000 at different times, just to learn at the end that he was cheated.
Further investigation into the case is underway, police informed.
