Maoist hurt in clash dies
Rautahat, March 31:
Gajendra Prasad Yadav, a Maoist cadre, who was injured in a clash on the eve of Holi festival at Dipahi VDC in Rautahat, died in the course of treatment yesterday.
Yadav was undergoing treatment in Patna, the police said.
Two groups of the Maoists had clashed over the issue of distributing allowance to disabled and elderly persons ahead of the Holi festival. Yadav was deputy secretary of the Maoist-affiliated Teachers’ Front.
According to the police, locals obstructed Gaur-Chandranigahpur section along the east-west highway by placing Yadav’s body on the road for an hour today.
Two local youths — Shivnath Prasad Shah and Ganesh Prasad Shah — were held on the charge of their involvement in the incident and preparations were underway to file a case against them in the court of law, inspector Shiv Sharma Acharya said.
He said five persons involved in the incident were still at large.
