Kavre, January 11:

Locals have accused Maoist cadres of chasing away a 15-member police team from Chheda of Gothpaani VDC in Kavre district.

The team had arrived at Chheda today to re-establish the Karttike Deurali Area Police Office(APO).

Headed by an inspector at the District Police Office (DPO), Binod Silwal, the team had left for Karttike Deurali yesterday. Maoist cadres chased away the police team from Chheda of Gothpaani VDC, saying the police team had arrived there without their consent, locals said. However, claiming that the party has no objection to the re-establishment of the APO, the Maoists’ Koshipari in-charge Anup said locals, and not the Maoists, had chased the policemen.
