Condemning the Maoists for recent abductions, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called on the former to set the abductees free at the earliest. Seven teachers, including Ramhari Sharma Timalsina, principal of Chakreshwar HS School, were abducted by the Maoists on June 10, according to the NHRC. Similarly, the NHRC has received a complaint on the abduction of Bir Bahadur Thaguna, secretary of the UML Darchula district committee on June 12.
