Maoists free 8 cops, civilian

Masuriya, April 26:

Maoists released nine persons, including eight policemen, today who were abducted one-and-a-half months ago. The CPN-Maoist’s central member, Lekhnath Bhatta, released them in the presence of journalists and human rights activists at a programme organised in a school at Masuriya of Kailali. Those freed are RNA constables Gopal Tamang, Chandrprakash Chaudhary and Dipak Tiwari of Kailali district and Manash Bahadur Bista of Kanchanpur.

The others are police constables Gambhir Singh Bishwakarma of Kailali, Maniram Lawat

of Baitadi, Harak Singh Badal of Darchula and Bikram Bhatta of Kanchanpur. A civilian, Tikaram Bishwakarma, who was abducted from Chisapani was also released. “We were sent to Dhangadhi with the regional coordinator of INSEC and Green Show Nepal, said Tikaram.

“Maoists also gave us bus fare,” he added.
