Maoists obstruct Siddhartha highway
Bhairahawa, January 23:
Thousands of passengers and vehicles were left stranded today following the Maoists’ obstruction of road for eight hours by placing bombs at different places of Rupandehi.
The Maoists placed bombs at Patthardanda of Siddhartha highway’s Bhairahawa Butwal road section, Kamhariya of Bhairahawa Lumbini road section and Parsa Chauraha and Dhakdhai Semara bridge of Parasi road.
As the bombs were planted all around Rupandehi and the roads were blocked, vehicles bound for Kathmandu and Pokhara, including other destinations, were disrupted.
Tourists and pilgrims were also affected.
