Maoists postpone Gaur programme by a day

The CPN-Maoist has postponed its programme scheduled for December 15 in Gaur, the district headquarters, by a day after it coincided with a programme of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum.
At a press conference organised here today, district in-charge of the Maoists Ashok Jaysawal said the programme was postponed for December 16 in view of a possible clash with the MJF.
A team of the Young Communist League activists taking part in its Mechi-Mahakali Youth March Past Campaign is scheduled to arrive in Gaur on December 15. The Maoists had planned to hold a mass condolence meeting on December 15 to pay tributes to the Maoist cadres killed in a clash with MJF activists on March 21.
The Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum had announced to hold a protest rally on December 15 against the filing of cases against its activists for their involvement in the March 21 incident.
Locals were apprehensive of a repeat of the March 21 incident after the Maoists and the MJF set programmes for for same day. They have now been relieved after the Maoists postponed the programme.
The Maoists said they decided to postpone the programme after the MJF remained adamant on holding its rally on December 15.
Ashok said the Maoists deferred their programmes so that the people have peaceful environment for participating in the event, in-charge Ashok said.
