Maoists take up development activities

Pyuthan, September 3 :

Maoists have begun building roads and other development infrastructure in different parts of Rolpa.

Last month itself, they constructed a hospital there with modern amenities. They have also completed part of a new road in Bhringu VDC in Pyuthan.

Two platoons of the Maoists completed the 450-metre long and 3.5-metre wide road over five consecutive days at a cost of Rs 115,000. Commissar of the 9th Battalion, Jwar said it was a matter of pleasure to initiate development work. He also expressed his displeasure at the proposal to disarm Maoists. He also urged that the Nepal Army should be revamped.

The two Maoist platoons, after completion of the road through five days were given a farewell programme. On the occasion, the Maoists’ central base area bureau member Narayan Prasad Adhikari claimed that the ongoing peace talks are being delayed on account of conspiracies. He said, “The peace talks are delayed due to conspiracies of India, USA and the seven-party alliance.” The success of Jana Andolan-II backed by the Maoist sent the parties to the government. But after joining government, they have become non-responsive to the people.

Stating that a popular revolt is necessary to make the peace talk a success, Adhikari said that this is not the time for dispute. Instead all political parties should be united to end feudalism. He added that the Maoists would not surrender until the formation of a people’s government. On the occasion, Jwar memorial 7th Battalion commander Dhrub said the world belonged to brave people.
