Phidim, December 10:

Maoists have threatened to kill CPN-UML cadre Agni Prasad Budhathoki, a resident of Syabrumba VDC in Panchthar, if he did not provide them Rs 150,000 donation. Budhathoki is the district secretary of the pro-UML Kisan Sangh.

Quoting Budhathoki, UML district office secretary Raj Kumar Bhandari said Maoist in-charge of Syabrumba VDC Dewan and his bodyguard dropped in at Budhathoki’s house last night and demanded Rs 1.5 lakhs donation from him.

Budhathoki told the Maoists that he would not be able to muster the amount even if he were to sell off all his property.

The next morning, Dewan again came to his house and told him that if he did not pay the money within three days, he would be killed.

Meanwhile, Maoists’ district secretary Mikso said that his party’s district committee has begun investigation into the incident.
