The Chitwan district committee of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) will launch a two-month-long republican campaign in the district from August 5 to creat public support for the constituent assembly polls.

“The purpose of the campaign is to create public support for unconditional constituent assembly polls,” said Pathik, district chief of the party.

The campaign will commence from Baruwa bazaar of Madi, he said. “We will launch the campaign by starting different programmes.

The campaign will be on from August 5 to 15 in Madi, from August 17 to September 5 in western Chitwan, from September 6 to 15 in city areas and from September 17 to October 6 in eastern Chitwan,” he said. The campaign will conclude in Narayangarh.

The Maoists have decided to launch the campaign from Madi in order to provide solace to the people of Madi, sources said.

Thirty-nine people, including security personnel were killed when Maoists detonated a bomb in a passenger bus a year ago.

Maoists are going to that area with different programmes, including job opportunities for the relatives of the deceased and treatment facilities of the injured, sources said.
