Maoists top PR count in Sindhupalchowk

Sindhupalchowk, April 16:

CPN-Maoist, which won all three seats in Sindhupalchowk under the FTPT system, also topped the vote count under PR system.

The Maoists received 64,482 votes. The CPN-UML got 37,696 votes, the NC got 20,017 votes and the RPP got 17,302 votes. Under the PR system, a total of 163,553 votes were cast in the district. A total of 6,468 votes were invalid.

Maoists stood first in PR vote count in Kavre too. The Maoists bagged 78,746 votes, while UML got 52,141 votes and the NC got 39,156 votes.

Meanwhile a report from Biratnagar said president of Morang Constituency No 6 unit of the Nepali Congress Bishwonath Rijal resigned from his post today on moral grounds after the party lost the CA polls in the constituency.

A report from Hetauda said for the first time in Makwanpur, a woman candidate was victorious. Maoist candidate Kumari Moktan of Makwanpur’s Padampokhari VDC was the victor in seat 4 of the district with 14,020 votes defeating her nearest rival and influential CPN-UML leader Rameshwar Rana who netted 10,643 votes.

A report from Nuwakot said Maoist cadres stopped NC leader Gagan Thapa and other NC cadres while they were on the way to Nuwakot today. Thapa and other NC activists were heading to attend the re-election to be held tomorrow in Nuwakot constituency No 1 when YCL cadres stopped them at Kakani.
