Maoists vandalise four vehicles

Rautahat, November 22:

Four vehicles were vandalised in Chadranigahpur on the second day of Maoists’ indefinite district bandh today.

Maoist cadres smashed the glasses of three Indian buses and one jeep at Lamaha forest, Garuda Area Police Office said. Police arrested three Maoist cadres for their involvement in the vandalism.

Maoist cadres obstructed Mahendra Highway by burning tyres in Chadranigahpur. Hundreds of passengers bound for different destinations were stranded due to the obstruction. The police escorted a few vehicles amidst protest demonstrations at around 3 pm. Three more Maoist cadres were held for using force to shut bazaars.

All shops and educational institutions remained shut in Chadranigahpur, while shops in rural areas and Gaur were open.

The Maoists called the bandh, demanding punishment for the Gaur massacre accused and to protest ‘fake cases’ registered against Maoist cadres, district secretary of the Maoists Bindeshwor Ray Yadav said.

He said police used force in their peaceful demonstration, injuring 11 cadres in Chadranigahpur.
