Maoists violating 23-pt pact: Arjun KC

Banke, February 6:

Nepali Congress joint general secretary Arjun Narsingh KC said today that the Maoists were violating the 23-point agreement. Speaking to reporters in Nepalgunj, KC said that despite voicing their commitment several times, the Maoists had not translated their words into action.

KC said: “How can the Maoists keep saying that they are abiding by the agreement when they still have not given up acts of terror though the constituent assembly polls are drawing close? They are still holding on to land and property, which they grabbed from civilians. They are still extorting and continuing to grab land and property. They are trying to force them to join the CPN-Maoist.”

Meanwhile, addressing a district party programme, chairman of the RPP Pashupati SJB Rana today charged the government with not being serious about holding the polls.

He urged the government to be serious about Tarai issues if it wants to hold the CA polls on April 10.

RPP party leader Dhruba Pradhan urged his party workers to be ready for a “cultural monarch” if the situation demands. He, however, did not elaborate.
