Maoists won’t dump allies, says Mahara
Dang, April 14:
Minister for Information and Communications and member of the Constituent Assembly from Dang constituency no. 3 Krishna Bahadur Mahara said today that the alliance among the political parties will continue. He said this at a programme organised in Ghorahi by the Dang branch of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists to felicitate CA members elected from Dang.
Mahara said his party will form the government as it has a clear majority, but hastened to add that consensus will be the basis for the future course of the government to be formed under the leadership of the CPN-Maoist. He said that the seven parties had not relented when his party asked for half the share in the government and the parliament. He said there was no alternative to the alliance no matter who secures a majority. “The Maoists are ready to stand up and face new challenges,” he said, adding: “What we did yesterday can be a subject for discussion and review. For this to happen, all parties should drop their preconditions,” he added. Maoist candidates, who won five seats in Dang district, were present on the occasion.
