Maoists’ protest programme

NAWALPARASI: Central Committee member of UCPN-Maoist Bamdev Chhetri said they would establish local government in the villages even though they had quit the central government.

Speaking at a protest programme organised by the Maoists District Organisation Committee here on Tuesday, he claimed that feudalism had ended in the country due to the Maoists Peoples' War. He further claimed that status-quoists existed in the country due to the support of national and international power centres.

Meanwhile, Kawasoti Chhetri claimed that attempts were being made to form a government under the leadership of CPN-UML. "Even if a government under the leadership of CPN-UML is formed, it wont last more than a week," claimed Kawasoti.

He further said that people would fight and start another revolution until a real republic was formed in the nation. He also warned of punishment to those who worked against the will of the people. Stating that President Ram Baran Yadav's move was unconstitutional, he said that he would be no better than former king Gyanendra if he didn't correct his move. A protest rally organised before the programme obstructed the vehicular movement in the area for several hours today.
