Master plan aimed for sports development in Pokhara Metropolis

POKHARA: Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City Mayor Man Bahadur GC said they have intended to chart out a master plan for sports development in Pokhara.

Inaugurating the 18th Men's and 9th Women's National Handball Tournament at Pokhara Stadium in Kaski district on Wednesday Mayor GC shared that the sports and tourism development are the top priorities of the Metropolis.

On the occasion, Tej Gurung, Central Chairperson at the Nepal Handball Association, said that there is a big potential of handball sports in Nepal and expressed hope that Nepal could win medal in international handball tournaments.

According to Mayor GC, sports ground will be arranged in all 33 wards of the Metropolis and special programme will be designed to incentivise athletes.

The tournament — at the initiative of the Nepal Handball Association — organised by the District Handball Association-Kaski and sponsored by Hong Kong Beauty Institute, kicked off from January 3 and will last till January 6.

A total of 14 teams including seven each towards Men's and Women's categories are taking part in the tournament.
