Nepalgunj, November 23
Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai today said the masterplan of Nepalgunj Airport had already come into execution. Speaking at an interaction organised at Nepalgunj airport, Minister Bhattarai pledged to provide adequate budget for implementation of the master plan.
“Proposed airports in Tarai will be constructed on the basis of the masterplan. The government has accorded top priority to Nepalgunj airport,” Bhattarai said. Efforts are under way to operate flights from Nepalgunj to New Delhi, according to the minister. Noting that work on Nepalgunj airport had started in a bid to change the face of western Nepal, he held that the masterplan of Nepalgunj airport was designed to enable international flights to and from Nepalgunj.
At the programme, Civil Aviation Authority General Manager Rajan Pokhrel said the master plan was designed at an estimated cost of Rs 12 billion. “Big airplanes such as Airbus can be operate after ompletion of work as per the masterplan,” said Pokhrel.
