Matrika Yadav welcomes Prachanda in his outfit

Janakpur, February 15:

Former politburo member of Unified CPN-Maoist Matrika Prasad Yadav, who is in the process of reviving the CPN-Maoist, said today that the door of his party was always open for the Unified Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ if the latter wished to join the party after ‘improving’ himself.

Speaking at a press meet organised by the Dhanusha district committee of CPN-M here today,

Yadav said, “Instability has gripped Prachanda. He is welcome in our party if he ‘improves’ his conduct.”

He also charged the Unified Maoists of using its cadres to abduct persons interested in joining his party. “Two persons were abducted in Jhapa after they issued a statement to join CPN-M,” Yadav said, “The cadres of Unified Maoist are resorting to abduction and issuing threats as they could not tolerate my campaign of reviving the party.”

He, however, said such activities would not hamper his campaign. “Instead, it will backfire,” he added.

He also said he had deserted the Unified Maoists because of ideological differences and that there was no chance of him returning to the party. “Prachanda has told me that he would join me if he couldn’t lead the Unified Maoist,” he disclosed.

“It is only the beginning of the campaign. I am ready to fight again to liberate the people who fought the decade-long people’s war,” he said.

Criticising the Madhes policy of the Unified Maoists, Yadav said, “I had more than two decades

of friendship with Prachanda and I had deep trust on him.

However, he enacted a drama by taking action against me,” he alleged.

Saying that he was forced to desert the Unified Maoists because of Prachanda’s act of taking decisions unilaterally and later accounting it to the party, Yadav said, “Prachanda took the party to the level of the NC and the UML. I urge the party cadres to judge whether or not the line that I am leading is right.”
