Mayoral, deputy mayoral candidates of Hetauda sub-metropolis confident

Candidates from different political forces have intensified their campaign for the May 14 local level elections, which is happening after two decades, in Makawanpur.
The contestants are doing everything possible to ensure victory in the polls. There are Hetauda Sub-metropolis, Thaha municipality and eight rural municipalities in the district. However, Hetauda Sub-metropolitan city has drawn the attention of all the district dwellers.
Ananda Ram Parajuli is contesting the polls as mayoral candidate from the Nepali Congress with the CPN-Maoist Centre backing him. Bal Ram Bal is contesting the polls for the deputy mayoral post from the CPN-MC. NC’s contestant Parajuli claimed that his victory was sure as they had formed an alliance with the CPN-MC in the sub-metropolis and Thaha Municipality of the district.
Hari Bal (Hari Bahadur) Mahat of the CPN-UML, who is a mayoral candidate, said his position was the strongest in the Sub-metropolis as he had served there for two terms as deputy mayor. He is said to be a popular candidate among party activists and locals. They party had granted him the ticket bypassing party district Chairperson Munu Sigdel.
“He can rise above party interest while launching social and development activities,” said locals. UML has fielded Mina Lama as the deputy mayoral candidate in the sub-metropolis.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party has picked Madhu Adhikari as the party’s mayoral candidate of Hetauda. “As Adhikari has contributed a lot to development and social welfare in the area, the party nominated him as the candidate for mayor. As the area is our stronghold, the alliance between NC and the CPN-MC won’t make any difference,” claimed the RPP.
The party has fielded Indira Neupane as deputy mayoral candidate in Hetauda Sub-metropolis. “As this is RPP Chairperson Kamal Thapa’s stronghold area, the RPP candidate will easily be victorious,” claimed district Chairperson Ram Hari Neupane.
CPN-ML has fielded Bhimsen Mahat and Rama Kumari Khadka as mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates respectively. The party’s mayoral candidate is also known as a visionary leader among the Hetauda dwellers.
He has launched various anti-corruption campaigns in Hetauda Sub-metropolis besides various social development activities. He is also a proponent of the Hetauda-Kathmandu tunnel.
The UML’s mayoral candidate Hari Bahadur Mahat and CPN-ML’s Bhimsen Mahat are siblings.
Similarly, the alliance of Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal and Naya Shakti Party-Nepal has fielded Shubha Ratna Gole and Punam Bhattarai for mayoral and deputy mayoral posts in Hetauda Sub-metropolis.
