Medical college tense over patient’s death row


TANSEN: Lumbini Medical College and Research Centre based in Tansen remained tense throughout the day following the death of a patient in course of treatment.

The relatives of the deceased woman had protested accusing the doctors of carelessness and demanded compensation to the victim’s family. Kuntadevi Basyal, 68, resident of Arghakhanchi’s Arghatos VDC-7, had died this morning due to lack of medicines. She had underwent an operation of the uterus in the hospital on July 1.

Bheklal Banjade, husband of the deceased, accused that his healthy wife had died as the hospital had denied their request to refer her to another hospital.

Tikaram Banjade, son of the victims, said that the doctors had performed a needless operation showing different reasons which resulted to her death.

Meanwhile, medical superintendent of the hospital Sudarshanlal Pradhan said that the death of the patient in the course of treatment could not be called carelessness.

“We had tried our level best to save her,” he said.
