Midnight aftershock hits Dolakha as Nepal awaits quake anniversary
KATHMANDU: A magnitude-4.0 aftershock shook central Nepal last night.
The National Seismological Centre said it was the 446th alerted aftershock of magnitude 4 or above since the magnitude-7.6 earthquake recorded on April 25 last year.
The epicentre of the tremor recorded at 00:41 am today was in the Gaurishankar Conservation Area, north of Jiri, in Dolakha district. The aftershock originated from a location with coordinates 27.72°N and 86.29°E, according to the NSC.
The NSC has recorded more than 30,000 aftershocks in the past 363 days while it has processed the data of and alerted the public about the magnitude and epicentre of as many as 446 aftershocks only, according to Lok Bijay Adhikari, the NSC Chief.
