Migrant family pledges help to build hospital

Damauli, February 6

A family that migrated from Bandipur of Tanahun to Chitwan has pledged help worth 10 million rupees for construction of a hospital in Bandipur.

Krishnalal Pradhan, Chiranjivi Pradhan and their sister-in-law Radhadevi Pradhan of Chitwan thus signed an understanding towards this effect with Bandipur Rural Municipality yesterday.

Bandipur Rural Municipality Chairperson Purna Singh Thapa confirmed the assistance pledged.

After the earthquakes in 2015 damaged the already dilapidated building of Bandipur Hospital, the rural municipality had initiated construction of a new building.

“We were wondering how we would manage fund for the hospital, and they came to us with the proposal of help in the memory of their late parents Shambhulal and Bal Kumari Pradhan,” said Thapa, adding, “As per the agreement, they will bear the expenses for buying steel rods, cement, gravel and sand.”

The proposed four-storey hospital building will have only two stories in the first phase, which will cost somewhere around 60 million rupees. As per the understanding, one of the storeys of the to-be-built hospital will be named after the parents of the  Pradhan trio.
