KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 2

A 38-year-old climber from Lithuania successfully scaled Mt Manaslu this season, becoming the first climber from his country to reach the true summit of the world's eighth highest peak.

According to Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, Managing Director at 14 Peaks Expedition, Mindaugas Satkauskas stood atop the 8,163-metre peak on 28 September becoming the first Lithuanian to scale Mt Manaslu.

Mindaugas was part of the expedition organized by 14 Peaks Expedition. "Mindaugas along with his guides Dendi Sherpa and Phura Sherpa reached the real summit point at 7:20 am using bottled oxygen," Sherpa said.
