Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has said he would take initiative to enlist the Ram Janaki temple of Janakpurdham in the list of World Heritage sites.
Minister Ale said this at a programme organised by Mithila Cultural Society on the occasion of Shree Ram Janaki Bibaha festival here today. The Ram Janaki temple is the heritage of civilisation, so my efforts would be for its identity across the globe, he reiterated.
The defenders and researchers of Maithili civilisation have been lobbying to enlist the temple in the World Heritage site for long but in vain.
Various festivals are observed on the premises of Ram Jananaki temple celebrating the virtues of Lord Ram. Even cultural programmes are held.
