KATHMANDU: Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Cooperatives, Ambika Basnet, has spoken of the need of majority of Nepali Congress in the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections.

"NC's majority is essential to safeguard democracy and bring prosperity in the country." Minister Basnet said.

Basnet who is the House of Representatives election candidate from the Kathmandu Constituency No. 3 from the NC ticket accused the communist parties of Nepal of forging the leftist alliance with an intention of imposing dictatorship in the nation. She said so at an election assembly organised by the party here in Kathmandu today.

On the occasion, she called on voters to ensure a landslide victory of the party in the elections to see a strengthened democracy.
