Minister KC bats for local level polls

KATHMANDU: Minister for Urban Development, Arjun Narsingh KC, has said that the upcoming local-level elections scheduled for May 14 would be held at any cost.

Speaking at the Reporters' Club in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Minister KC said that conducive environment has been created to hold the elections on the slated date.

He further said an election ambiance has engulfed the whole nation. People are already excited as the local level elections are being held after two decades.

He also said new constitution amendment proposal was brought as per the suggestion of the Madhesi Morcha to bring then on board the elections. He expressed optimism that the Madhesi Morcha would be satisfied on the new amendment proposal and would participate in the polls.

Similarly, Prime Minister's political advisor Chakrapani Khanal said that the government was committed to holding the elections on the scheduled date even if the Madhesi Morcha boycotts the elections.

Likewise, Chairman of the Nepal Sadbhawana Party, Anil Kumar Jha, expressed dissatisfaction over the new constitution amendment proposal brought without holding consultations with the Madhesi Morcha.
