Minister of Internal Affairs of Sudurpaschim Province and two others died after a jeep they were travelling in met with an accident at Dharchhada of Kedarsyun Rural Municipality in Bajhang this afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Minister Prithivi Bahadur Singh, 65, his wife Amrita Singh, 62, and his sister-in-law (elder brother's wife) Jaya Devi Singh, 67, of Jayaprithivi Municipality, Bajhang.
Police said Amrita and Jaya Devi died on the spot while Prithivi Bahadur died in the course of treatment at Nepalgunj-based Kohalpur Medical College. Two others, who were travelling in the jeep, were injured in the accident, said police. Police said the critically injured Minister Singh along with two others were airlifted to Nepalgunj-based health facility for further treatment.
The minister's PSO Assistant Head Constable Dipak Bhandari and jeep driver Dharma Raj Joshi, 28, of Khaptadchhana Rural Municipality, Bajhang were injured in the accident.
