KATHMANDU, AUGUST 9
Government ministers, diplomats, officials and senior tourism entrepreneurs today attended an event at Gokarna to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and South Korea.
Minister for Forests and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, State Minister Santosh Chalise, Bagmati Province Minister Krishna P Silwal and Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Park Tae-Young among others planted tree sapling at Gokarna Sahid Smarak Park during an event organised by Korea Tours and Trekking Operator Association of Nepal in association with the Embassy of Republic of Korea to Nepal, said KOTTAN Treasurer and President of the Korean Alpine Federation's liaison office Ngawa Ngima Sherpa.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Forests and Environment Thakuri said that
South Korea and Nepal have developed close friendship and cooperation across many areas since the Korean mission was established in Kathmandu in 1974. This year – 2024, marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Park Tae-Young pointed out that over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both countries have always respected and trusted each other, setting a good example of friendly coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields have yielded fruitful results.
KOTTAN President Amar Bahadur Shahi said that KOTTAN is committed to promoting tourism as well as enhancing people to people relations between the two countries.
According to Ngawa Ngima Sherpa, more than 250 saplings were planted on the occasion. "KOTTAN and Korean Embassy also agreed to join hands for the development of Gokarna Park and would continue tree plantation there," Sherpa said.
The event was attended by high-level dignitaries from the federal and province government as well as park officials and locals.
