The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has initiated discussions on managing transportation more effectively in the wake of the approaching festivals.
Secretary Keshav Kumar Sharma informed that he held talks with stakeholders on Sunday regarding measures to ensure safe and convenient travel for passengers leaving the Kathmandu Valley for the upcoming Dashain festival.
A committee has also been formed under the coordination of Rajib Pokharel, Director General of the Department of Transport Management. The committee includes representatives such as the Chief of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police, the Chief of the Highway Security Division, and the Chairperson of the Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs, among others.
The meeting further decided to collect details of losses incurred from damage to public vehicles and initiate the process for compensation.
In addition, a notice will be issued prohibiting the transport of looted arms from recent protests in public vehicles and passenger buses.
