Minor killed in road accident

CHITWAN: A minor died on the spot after a micro-bus hit him at Darechowk in Kurintar of Chitwan on Friday. The deceased has been identified as nine-year-old Samir Chepang of Darechowk. According to District Police Office, Chitwan, the micro-bus was en route from Kathmandu to Mugling. The vehicle and its driver have been taken under control, said police.

Water project

DAMAULI: Drinking water has been supplied to as many as 87 households by using ‘lifting technology’ in Tanahun. The facility is being provided with the joint initiatives of Dr Rakesh Shrivastav, Dean of Institute of Medicine who is also the chairperson of Impact Nepal, and locals. The service began after the completion of Bhuwale Khola Drinking Water and Sanitation Project, said Dr Shrivastav. Consumers’ Committee Chairperson Padam Bahadur Rana said drinking water was being supplied to the households through taps. The new water project has brought much needed to relief, as they earlier had to walk for hours to fetch water from Bhirpani, Chapani and Kuwa. Locals said earlier they had to walk for hours to fetch water, that too used to be dirty, but with taps providing them clean water, things have become easier.

Lightning kills one

HETAUDA: A person was killed after he was struck by a lightning bolt at Kamidanda of Bharta VDC in Makawanpur on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Buddhi Bahadur Chepang, 40. Police said Chepang died on the spot after the lightning hit him at his house. Maili Maya, Chepang’s wife, was injured in the incident. She has been receiving treatment at a local health post.
