KATHMANDU: A girl who had gone missing in Saptakoshi River since Wednesday has been found dead in Barah Municipality-1 of Sunsari district.

The deceased has been identified as Prakriti Tamang (9), a daughter of local resident Purna Tamang.

According to the District Police Office, Sunsari, Tamang had gone missing after she went to swim in the Saptakoshi River at around 2:00 pm yesterday.

Acting on a report, a team of security personnel deployed from Chatra-based Area Police Office (APO) had launched search operation to find the missing girl.

The APO with the help of locals had recovered the body of Tamang in water near the southern bank of the river, the DPO informed.

Tamang was found 200 metres away from the river bank, police said.
