Mishap victims’ kin vandalise hospital
Nuwakot, October 9:
Local people and relatives of those killed and injured yesterday in a mini-truck accident at Danadabise vandalised Trishuli Hospital this morning and a staged a demonstration alleging that that the injured were not provided proper and timely treatment.
There were no doctors in the hospital when the injured people were rushed there, relatives of the accident victims said.
The same group, which vandalised the hospital, staged a demonstration and burnt tyres in the district headquarters, Bidur, this afternoon.
Hospital head Dr Bikash Lamichhane said the infuriated group broke windows and doors of the hospital and also damaged medical equipment and other materials. He claimed that the hospital paid full attention to the injured even in the absence of the two physicians of the hospital.
In the mishap yesterday, Sircham Tamang of Dhading’s Satyadevi VDC-8 died on the spot while Yugel Tamang and Aita Bahadur Tamang of the same area and Saila Tamang of ward 3 died on way to Trishuli Hospital for treatment. Aita, 21, was a soldier posted at the Army Training Centre in Maithali and hailed from Dhading Satyadevi-8.
Of the 28 injured, 20 were sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu, the same night. Five of them are in a critical condition, said police inspector in the district police office Nuwakot, Chun Bahadur GC.
The mini-truck with registration no Ba 1 Kha 9721 which was heading from Nuwakot’s Deurali to Trishuli turned turtle at Dandabise in Bidur Municipality-9 last evening.
