A teenage girl in Kanchanpur, who had been missing from her home for the past six days, was found dead last night.

Seventeen-year-old Kabita Bista of Shantipur in Krishnapur Municipality had been missing since Tuesday when she had gone to Attariya bazaar to make some purchases.

After she didn’t return home for days, the girl’s family had reported to the police about her disappearance yesterday.

The police on the lookout of the girl found her body near Amkhaiyakhola river in Laljhadi-Mahona forest in Krishnapur Municipality.

“It seems that the girl was murdered and her body dumped here,” said Area Police Office Jhalari Chief Sub-inspector Ramesh Prasad Awasthi, adding that one person suspected by the police had been detained in connection with the case.
