Light aftershock recorded after 2 days, epicentre Dolakha

KATHMANDU: A light aftershock of the April 25 earthquake was recorded in Dolakha district on Saturday.

According to the National Seismological Centre, it recorded a tremor of local magnitude 4.4 at 2:28 am today.

The coordinates of epicentre 27.80°N, 86.23°E, provided by the NSC, show that the epicentre was in Gaurishankar Conservation Area in the district.

It was the first significant aftershock recorded after two days.

The number of significant aftershocks of local magnitude 4.0 or above has reached 346 since April 25 till this morning.

Meanwhile, the official death toll of the devastating earthquake has reached 8897.
