KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 23

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday issued an advisory, requesting the Nepali nationals living in Ukraine to return home on commercial flights in view of worsening security situation there. It has also urged Nepalis around the world to put off their visit to Ukraine. The MoFA said Nepalis living in Ukraine were in touch with the Embassy of Nepal in Berlin.

In the wake of growing tension and possible war between the world power Russia and its neighbouring country Ukraine, the Nepal government has urged all its citizens currently residing in Ukraine or on a visit there to return home as soon as possible.

Issuing a notice today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested all the Nepalis to return to Nepal. The government asked its citizens to understand the developing situation and take a private flight and return to the country unless it was very urgent to remain there.

The MoFA said currently 34 Nepali citizens living in Ukraine have come into contact of the Nepali Embassy in Berlin, Germany and all of them are in good health. It is said that many Nepali foreign job seekers might have entered Ukraine through unrecorded means.

Thus, the government has no official record of the actual number of Nepalis residing in Ukraine till date.

The MoFA has also asked Nepalis in Ukraine to contact the Nepali Embassy in Berlin for any assistance.
