Pokhara, June 28:
CPN-UML standing committee member Bamdev Gautam has said that monarchy and democracy cannot go together. Gautam said so while addressing a workshop organised here today by the ANNFSU Gandaki Zonal Committee. He cited examples from the years gone by, and said that since 1958 kings have been trying to take over and rule the country. “Seven parties have come together to defeat the King’s February 1 takeover,” he said, adding, “If the King does not want to remain within the constitution, then the people would decide whether they would or would not like such a person to be the King.”
