Monarchy unacceptable in any form: Nepal

Kathmandu, May 19:

General Secretary of CPN (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal has stressed that Nepali people have dreamed of a new Nepal without king and no political power should play games to shatter the dream.

In the worker’s assembly, organised today on the occasion of 14th Madan-Ashrit Memorial Day by All Nepal Women’s Association, Nepal said: “Monarchy would not be accepted in any form or under any name.”

Stating that his party favours holding an election to constituent assembly at the earliest, he said: “UML is prepared to hold election even within one month but other parties are not sensitive to this issue.” He said it was a pity that leaders of the eight parties could not be serious even when they know that regressive element is active.

Indicating the movement in Tarai, he said: “Many people are trying to be regional or racial leaders instead of leading the nation and this is negative attitude.”
