KATHMANDU, June 5

Monsoon has marked its entry in Nepal for the year 2022 as advancement of south-west monsoon hit the country's eastern side on June 5.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division issued a notice in its Special Weather Bulletin on Sunday afternoon stating that the monsoon has arrived in Province 1 on June 5.

The Division shared that the arrival was early as compared to average dates this year. Generally, the arrival is marked on June 13.

Though the monsoon onset has started from the east, the western side is yet to feel the monsoon arrival and it may take few days for the west to witness it.

In a long range forecast, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology had forecasted above normal rainfall this season.

Last year, heavy rainfall brought along many disruptions and destructions, along with a major flood in Melamchi. This year as well the above-normal rain forecast calls for better preparedness for the season.
