KATHMANDU, JUNE 22
The early monsoon season has triggered a series of landslides and floods, causing significant disruptions to major highways across several provinces in Nepal.
According to a report released by the Nepal Police this morning, while some routes have been partially cleared for traffic, a key section of the Mahendra Highway remains completely blocked.
The report, updated as of 10:00 am today, details multiple road obstructions primarily due to landslides and floods. Authorities are working to clear the debris and restore normal traffic flow.
Mahendra Highway fully obstructed in Gandaki Province
The most severe disruption is reported in Gandaki Province, where the Mahendra Highway is fully obstructed in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East). A flood in the Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality area since June 20 has halted all traffic on this critical national highway.
Further disruptions in Gandaki Province include:
A landslide on the Kaligandaki Corridor in Parbat, which has been cleared for one-way traffic since June 20.
The Beni-Jomsom road section in Myagdi is also operating one-way since June 21 due to a landslide.
In Kaski, a landslide has similarly restricted the Pokhara-Baglung road to one-way traffic from June 21.

In Dhankuta, the Rabi-Rake- Bhedetar road has been open for one-way traffic since June 15 following a landslide.
