Man, who used to carry own intestine in plastic bag, gets new lease of life

PATHARI, MORANG: A 40-year-old man, who had been suffering from colon ulcer for the past three years, has got a new lease of life.

Man Bahadur Rai, a permanent resident of Sampang Tole in Miklajung-1 of Morang district had been carrying his intestines in a plastic bag in lack of money needed for the treatment for the past 15 months. He received a cost-free treatment at the Sinamangal-based Nobel Hospital.

Narayan Dahal, Public Relations Official at the Hospital said, "The treatment spanning one month and 13 days was successful."

Rai had undergone a surgery at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences some two and a half years ago. The health institute had asked Rai for a follow-up visit after six months but he could not manage it due to financial constraints.

A team of doctors led by Senior General Surgeon Dr JN Bhagawati was involved in his treatment. General Surgeon Sunit Agrawal said that the parts of intestines damaged due to prolapse were cut out.
