Motorable bridge comes into operation in Bajura
Bajura, October 29
A motorable bridge constructed over the Guigard River has come into operation along Sanphe-Martadi road section in Bajura today.
The bridge came into operation after completion of its construction some two months ago. The newly constructed bridge did not come into operation immediately after completion as the contractor had not removed construction materials from the site, citing the failure of the authority concerned to clear the due amount.
The bridge came into operation after Chief District Officer Chet Raj Baral-led team reached the site and removed the construction materials. “The bridge has come into operation without formal inauguration as the locals were facing problems,” he said. The locals in Bajura are excited after the bridge came into operation. Transportation along the Sanphe-Martadi road section had halted since the rainy season every year.
Bhim Saud of Kalika Construction had received the contract for construction of the bridge some eight years ago. The work had to be completed in 2013, but the Department of Roads extended the deadline for the project.
