Motorcyclist dead, pillion riders hurt in collision with lorry in Saptari
RAJBIRAJ: A person was killed and two others were injured after a motorcycle they were riding on, collided with a lorry in Rajbiraj Municipality of Saptari district on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as the motorcyclist Pramod Yadav (17) of Rajbiraj Municipality-13 and the injured as pillion riders Niraj Yadav (14) and Sanjeev Yadav (19).
The lorry laden with goods, bearing Indian registration number (BR 8805) heading towards Bhardaha from Rajbiraj collided head-on with the motorcycle (Ko 6 Pa 3502) critically injuring the motorcycle riders, at Deuri Bharuwa, at around 5:30 pm yesterday, according to Inspector Narayan Bhattarai at the District Police Office (DPO), Saptari. The trio were riding on the motorcycle along the Rajbiraj-Bhardaha road section when the incident occurred, said police.
The motorcyclist breathed his last at the Biratnagar-based Golden Hospital during the course of treatment while the critically injured pillion riders duo are receiving treatment at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
Meanwhile, the heavy four wheeler has been impounded and the investigation into the incident is underway, the DPO informed.
